The Advisory Services staff serves as fiscal advisers and operational consultants to local government entities and officials. The staff performs a variety of functions to help local governments improve their financial operations. Those functions include fiscal monitoring, internal control and compliance reviews, recommendations on how to comply with applicable state laws, follow-up on certain complaints received from officials and residents, recommendations on best practices and effective financial management, advice on how to resolve audit findings, and training. In addition, the staff provides support for the Louisiana State Fiscal Review Committee and performs annual assessments of sheriffs participating in the Federal Equitable Sharing Program to ensure compliance with U.S. Department of Justice and Treasury requirements.
